Trend Report: Metal Details

Posted on October 31, 2007

This Fall season is all about the details. Right now the designers are exploring metal. Of course the metal details are only to be used as an accent not as and item. So go out and find that handbag, tank, pant, eye-wear or heels with that little extra. Look for metal sequins, studs and clasps.

Worst Dressed Celebrities of the Day: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

Posted on October 23, 2007

Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and daughter Suri are all bundled up for a stroll in NYC. They look quite fashionable in their overcoats and scarfs, no?

So why on earth, you may ask, are they our ‘Worst Dressed Celebs of the Day?’ This photo was taken on October 20, while leaving their hotel in NYC. The temperature that day was a record 84 degrees! Anyone else thinking what the hell they are thinking? Also what is with the matchy, matchy that is so cliche. I can tell you that Suri will not be wanting these photos in the family album when her 16th birthday rolls around, I know from experience because I didn’t when I was 16.

When the Beverly Hills Neiman Marcus hosted an intimate soiree to debut Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s new contemporary line, Elizabeth and James, preferred customers were the first to get their hands on gorgeous frocks, jackets and tops from the much-anticipated collection. The duo was hands-on in planning the celebration, pitching in to do everything from designing the party space to dressing the mannequins. “When I first walked in, I was in shock that there were so many people here already,” said Mary-Kate of the impressive turnout. “I sort of ran around and said, ‘Time to shop!’”

Wide Leg Jeans are in the Spotlight

Posted on October 21, 2007

Wide leg jeans

Now don’t throw out those skinny leg jeans just yet, because they are still very trendy. But now the wide leg has the
spotlight. Keep your outfit casual with a comfy boot or some tennis shoes. To dress it up try some of those ankle boots that are one of fashion’s top accessories right now.

Here’s A Tip: If you are petite you might want to stay away from the wide leg pants because they tend to make petite girls even smaller. So stick to the skinny leg pants, those will lengthen a short body.

Today’s Beauty Look: Long Separated lashes

Rachel Bilson

TO GET THE LOOK: Not every star needs a glam squad! Rachel Bilson gave herself these lush lashes, and you can too. The key to full, feathery fringe is two types of mascara, says YSL makeup pro Elena Rodriguez.

AN INSIDER TRICK: Apply a lengthening formula from root to tip. Top with a volume-building mascara just at the root so ends don’t get clumpy, adds Rodriguez.
