Today’s Beauty Look: Easy MakeUp

Posted on January 30, 2008

Rachel Bilson

The LOOK: Though we’re sure Rachel Bilson’s makeup is more than just a little eyeliner, blush and lip stain, it gives the appearance of being utterly simplistic and at the same time stunning. Keep the eyes basic: a flesh-color base all-over the lid, followed by liner on the inside of the lower line and along the upper lashline. Then swipe a pretty pink stain over lips.

The TRICK: Novices, stick to kohl pencils—they tend to be easier to work with than liquid liners. If a pencil seems stiff, soften it by wrapping a fist around the pencil for ten seconds to warm it.

Look Of The Day: Drew Barrymore.

Posted on January 30, 2008

 Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore was at the premiere of Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show. She choose a satin-like fabric that was soft enough to take the shape and flow of the body. The cloth was tough enough to hold up on its own in the folds created for its sleeves and waist. The off the shoulder dress has no fuss about it and uses a simple technique like the bare shoulder exposure to gain some quiet admiration.

The gown’s deep color meant that something light by the way of accessories and shoes should be there to lighten the look. Drew’s choice of beige or skin tone colored shoes was good.

A Sneak Peek at Pre-Fall

Posted on January 29, 2008

Fall 08

The Pre-Fall collections have been quietly underway, but are definitely worth mentioning. They have been gaining more popularity as a preview of what’s to come for Fall. Since Fall ‘08 is right around the bend, here are some observations . . . Fashion continues to be all about the lady, and no tramp. Grey seems to be the new favorite canvas color, as well as matte black; prints are mixed, poppy, artsy and colorful. Neutrals are gorgeous too. Sleeves are cropped and experimentation with volume brings it to an even more wearable place. Coats, fur, belts and skirt suits are a plenty. Fab favorites: Michael Kors and his Hitchcock babes, Missoni, Louis Vuitton’s mismatching, Proenza’s body conscious creations and Versace’s sharp lines. Today’s Beauty Look : 30 Second Updo

Posted on January 29, 2008

Halle Berry

The Look: Halle Berry has more than boyfriend Gabriel Aubry swept away with her effortless style. To get Berry’s bushy bun in an instant, pull long hair into a ponytail. Twist the ponytail into a tight rope until it buckles into a loop. Then use a clip or barrette to hold the loop in place at the back of your head with the ends fanning upward.

The Trick: Add elegance to the look by making a side part (using the end of a rat-tail comb) before you start.

Today’s Beauty Look: Raccoon Eyes

Posted on January 28, 2008

I know what you must be thinking, and no it is not the type of eyes you wake up with without taking your makeup off, or a drunken night pass out or even going in the pool with non waterproof mascara. These eyes are gorgeous and are perfect for a night out with the girls or to seduce the man of your dreams. Check out these celebs that wear raccoon eyes well…

 Hayden Panettiere and Sharon Stone

The LOOK: Apparently L.A.’s “No Smoking” policy doesn’t apply to makeup. Embrace your animal instincts, like Hayden Panettiere and Sharon Stone, by rimming the circumference of your eyes with dramatic smoky shadow. Line both eyes with black kohl liner, then brush matte charcoal or brown shadow around eyes and up into the crease of lids.

The TRICK: Raccoon eyes should look tame, not rabid: Dust a generous amount of loose powder under your eyes before starting. It will catch flakes and dripping powder. Sweep it away with a tissue when finished.
