Trends: Celebrity dolls.

Marie Osmond

On Monday, Feb. 18, Marie Osmond was at the NY Toy Show. She was promoting her doll. There has been a spate of fashion trends on celebrities making dolls for mass ownership. It is like owning a mini replica of your favorite celebrity. Someone who is old enough to be a fan of Marie Osmond should not be going ga ga over a doll. Anyway, the doll’s dress is frilly and pretty. It is retro but wholesome. I would imagine Rihanna’s doll to be dressed in dominatrix leather corsets.

Today’s Beauty Look: On the Go Hair

Posted on February 19, 2008

Scarlett Johansson

The Look: ”I like to mess hair up a little when I’m finished to add a halo of frizz. It looks youthful and spontaneous, not too perfect,” says hairstylist David Babaii, who works with stars like Scarlett Johansson and Sarah Jessica Parker. Take a break from high maintenance hair and embrace a sweet, innocent style like this one.

The Trick: This ‘do is perfect for girls on the go: Simply make a side part, pull a small section to the opposite side of your hairline, and clip it in place with a bobby pin.

Trends: Fashion goes green.

Fashion has been affected by the need to be environmentally friendly. In the US, the use of organic fiber fabric soared up 27% in 2006, as compared to the previous year’s figure in 2005. There has been greater concern about toxicity from flame retardants and chemicals in clothing. The solution was to use organic and renewable materials like bamboo.

Calvin Klein has designed a hemp-based pant suit. Michael Kors has an innovative dress made from recycled cashmere. Donatella Versace made her mark in green design with a hemp-silk gown.

Here, we show you one practical item of clothing made from a green product. Kara Taub Bamboo Scarves are made from bamboo fibers. The plant is a fast grower, and renews itself rapidly. Thus, clothes from bamboo are sustainable since the supply would not be depleted.

Worst Dressed Celebrity of the Day: Lindsay Lohan

Posted on February 18, 2008

Today’s Winner is Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan

I’m not sure if this is the tipical worsted dressed award considering she is not dressed at all. To me Lohan not being dressed is the worst part. I don’t think it is time for Lindsay to start playing the drugged out skank of yester years when she is trying to get over that stage of her life. There is one good thing though, atleast she looks like the girl next door and not the anorexic girl. But overall Lindsay Lohan is not  the biggest eye candy in her present state, clothes need to go back on. If she wants to do Marilyn Monroe, why not try the white wind dress or dimonds are a girls best friend dress? Might want to keep that in mind for next time.

Wedding dresses

As it’s one of the biggest days in a woman’s life, can a £495 wedding dress from Bhs really match up to the moment?

Elizabeth Emanuel – famous for creating, with her then husband David, Princess Diana’s fairytale wedding dress in 1981 – launches her range for the High Street store tomorrow.

The public will get the chance to buy a dress similar to one that would normally cost £3,000. But is the bargain price tag a useful saving, or is it too good to be true?

In ten short years the UK High Street has transformed itself from drab and dreary into a place where even Kate Moss is prepared to show her face.

Today’s Beauty Look : Cut Your Own Bands

Posted on February 18, 2008

Kate Hudson

The Look:Kate Hudson recently took a very hairy matter into her own hands: Just days before her hairstylist David Babaii was slated to cut her fringe, she decided to snip some herself!

The Trick: To avoid mishaps (we’re not professionals, no matter how often we wield a flatiron), trim a few long, versatile pieces instead of going for short heavy bangs. Create a middle part, then comb hair forward over your eyes starting three inches back from the hairline. Clip a few small pieces so that they fall below the brow line.

Model Agyness Dean in Henry Holland’s creation (left) and Giles Deacon’s creation featured a padded top.

Henry Holland’s House of Holland, was all about tartan minikilts, tartan trench coats and laced boots. Henry said that he designed his clothes with the ideas of putting fun back into dressing up. He wanted to inject humor into his creations. His models also exhibited that androgyny was in. There were boy models who paraded in velvet slippers, skinny jeans and woolly cardigans.
