Trends: Gold facials.

A beauty company claimed that gold leaf facials could abolish wrinkles. The treatment was called the Luxe 24 Karat Gold Facial. It used the highest grade of gold leaf in an 80 minute session that cost $360. This process involved using tiny gold flakes and massaging them into the skin. This was supposed to give firmer and brighter skin.
This was not the first time in history that gold has been used in beauty treatments. Cleopatra, the beautiful Egyptian Queen, used a gold mask for her face at night. China had empresses who used gold rollers to massage their faces.
The scientific explanation for this treatment was based on the premise that when skin rejects the foreign gold particles, it grows new cells. Thus, the skin is renewed and looks are enhanced.
