Brittney McGlone, the winner of 2008 Sydney’s Stiletto Race.

Sydney’s annual Stiletto race attracted 265 stiletto wearers who ran in the race. The race was held in the harbor side area of Circular Quay. The US had already held its equivalent race a few months back.

The participants wore heels that were at least 3 inches high. The distance was 80 meters. There was a big rush for positions as the finish line was crowded with runners. The women’s shoes took a beating as most heels were not meant for running. Some stilettos were worn after the race and the shoes were ruined.

The prize was a pair of designer sandals and $4728 to be awarded to a charity of the winner’s choice. The winner of this race in Sydney was Brittney McGlone, 18.
