Posted on September 16, 2008

People had always believed that vertical stripes made a person look slimmer. New findings have revealed that vertical stripes are not flattering to the figure. Horizontal stripes, which were the scapegoats of fashion disasters, suddenly found themselves being touted as the more flattering kind of stripes.

The British Association’s Festival of Science did some research and discovered that vertical stripes were not flattering at all. In contrast to popular belief, it is horizontal stripes which are complementary to many figures. It was a matter of optical illusion.

Fashion designers had often used horizontal stripes to the dismay of some women who followed the old saying that vertical stripes were better. Now, women of all shapes can rest easy and wear horizontal stripes.
