Inaugural Designs: Laura Bush

Posted on September 10, 2008

Laura Bush starting a fashion line!!!

Considering her former modeling days, environmental vigor and relationship with a certain American sportswear scion, some might say Lauren Bush’s entrée into the fashion frenzy was only a matter of time. Today, Bush is hosting preview appointments for Lauren Pierce, her first ready-to-wear collection of eco-minded pieces. This sounds like something maybe Palin can get into (  I love Sarah Palin). I like her look but you know everyone is going eco friendly these days. “Fashion has always been an interest of mine,” said Bush of her design debut. “But there are so many amazing designers and lines out there, that for me, this was more a reaction and a way to make a statement in the sustainable world.” So, is Ralph Lauren among those influencing, and perhaps financing, her line? “He’s obviously been very supportive,” says Bush, who used her middle name for the collection, if you did not know already. “I’ve partnered up with and had help from a lot of amazing people along the way, but this is really my own idea and creation.”

Go Laura first modeling, then first lady and now a fashion line. I wish I could only have accomplished that much by now. I haven’t yet seen her clothes but they are said to be a hit and made fr women who are more mature, not to say that younger business savvy women can not wear this line, that was just the impression I received.

Today’s Beauty Look: Youthful Buns

Posted on September 10, 2008

Liv looking fresh young and clean in her youthful bun.

The Look: Who knew that a simple hairstyle could take years off your face? Celebrity hairstylist Renato Campora did when he styled a do for Liv Tyler. “Her dress was sophisticated so I decided to give her a youthful hairstyle,” Campora says. Liv her self is soft and youthful, but with the sophisticated dress, the hair style just brought her back to her good old gorgeous self.

The Trick: Keep it airy and simple and ladies you are going to love this, flyaways are ok for this look! If your hair is limp and needs a little extra texture and/or height, Campora suggests spritzing damp hair with Frederic Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting and Texturizing Spray Gel to add volume at the roots. You could also use just any old root booster or volumizing spray. I have heard very good things from big sexy hair. I have used it once and loved it but have not gotten some of my own.

Trend 911 Alert: Fall Trends 2008!

Posted on September 9, 2008

Fall TRENDS 2008 are here.

This year we are bring back the old and making them new again. Of course one trend that always sticks is the feminine trend, which to me is a no brainer, but yes femininity is still here. Lace to the left of us, ribbons to the right. It’s all about ruffles and pleating and bows. Colors are obviously taken right from the lingerie drawer, though the fabrics are weightier and more street-worthy.

Take a look at what feminine styles we have this fall:

Blake livley sporting a feminine fall trend with a tailored jacket, Stright line and clean overal look. Emma looking very feminine in her flowy white dress, which is fitted as well.

Also back this season would have to be the metallics and of course we can’t forget slouchy. All metals are worn — gold, silver, bronze, hematite, copper and mercury too. They’re even combined. Oooo….Also lace, silk and skins are given the metallic treatment without the usual hard edges. The result is a feminine (coincidence, i think not) fluidity. Slouchy, the mood is hands-in-pockets, but the clothes are hardly shapeless. Keep an eye out on how all feature a strong shoulder or a banded waist, making the draping anything but random. There seems to be a lot of sweaters like that already coming out!

Claire Danes feminine in metallic. Liv has a rocker feminine personality but so does this slouchy dress.
