Anne Hathaway attended the Princess Grace Awards Gala in New York City. It was an evening event, and her makeup—a palette of smoky eyes, rosy blush and sheer red lips—was dramatic without being heavy or overdone.
The Trick: Hathaway’s makeup artist Hung Vanngo says, “We decided to keep the hair and makeup simple and have a ‘fairy-tale princess’ feeling with a modern twist.” How to achieve a statement-making red lip without having it take over? “Anne has full, gorgeous lips so I pressed-on the lipstick with my finger instead of a brush,” he explained. Press a few extra times into the center of the lips for a believable, just-bitten stain.
