Emma Stone rocked the Jason Wu green and black keyhole dress At 2012 Critics’ Choice Awards, but what we loved more about the red-head’s look was her daring makeup. Her choice of outfit wasn’t her best, but the makeup was down to perfection.

Stone attended the event with a soft, romantic updo, a peach pout, and metallic blue eyeliner, which highlighted her red hair and blue eyes even more.

To recreate the look, start with any foundation that can cover up imperfections, but keep your face looking radiant rather than cakey. Stick to pastels or natural when choosing your lipstick, blush and eye shadow.

For the eyes, makeup artist Rachel Goodwin tells InStyle how she made Emma’s makeup. Goodwin revealed, “Navy-lined eyes are an easy way to baby step into the world of color. I used a metallic blue for a more glamorous effect.” She added that, “keeping the rest of your makeup low-key will prevent the pop of color from feeling dated.”
