2012 Oscars Fashion Trends: Shimmery, Sparkly Dresses

From Meryl Streep’s custom-made golden gown, to black sequin dresses of Anna Faris and Rose Byrne, check out the stars who chose to sparkle to the next level with their choice of dresses…

35-year-old funny lady Anna Faris wore a black sequin Diane von Furstenberg dress, which failed to highlight the sequin details and looked like a leather or liquid black dress. She completed her look with YSL shoes and Tiffany and Co. jewelry.

Octavia Spencer wore a custom hand-beaded Tadashi Shoji floor-length dress with Jimmy Choo shoes, a Judith Leiber clutch and Neil Lane Jewelry. The actress won the “Best Supporting Actress” award for her work on “The Help.”

Jane Seymour went with a retro sequined red gown with chevron stripes. This glittering dress featured a plunging neckline and a mini trail. She finished off with silver peep-toe heels and diamond jewelry.

Like Anna Faris, Rose Byrne went with a black sequin dress, but her one-shoulder Vivienne Westwood body-hugging dress looked far better than Anna’s dress. Rose matched the dress with Jimmy Choo ‘New Linda’ heels, and Chanel ‘Luere d’un Soir’ earrings.

Judy Greer looked stunning in a modern metallic-on-black Monique Lhuillier dress (from the Spring 2012 collection), which featured silver beaded panels that showed off all her curves. She paired it up with a matching metallic clutch and art deco diamonds.

Stacy Keibler was dressed in gold as she accompanied George Clooney to the event. She went with a golden Marchesa gown (from the Fall 2012 collection) and matching gold accessories.

Jessica Chastain looked amazing in a black Alexander McQueen gown with intricate gold embroidery and baroque patterning throughout the dress. She completed the look with Brian Atwood Alesha Monster Pumps and $2 million worth of Harry Winston yellow diamond jewels.

Leslie Mann kept it simple with a dark blue strapless Roberto Cavalli beaded gown, which she paired with sapphire jewels from Lorraine Schwartz, a black Judith Leiber Monica Evening Bag and Brian Atwood shoes.

Lastly, Meryl Streep donned a custom-made, golden lame draped Lanvin gown with a matching Lanvin woven gold and strass chain belt, a Lanvin minaudiere and gold jewelry. She finished off with a pair of Salvatore Ferragamo gold lizard sandals.
