Eva Mendes attended the special screening of “Girl in Progress” held at the Director’s Guild of America in L.A. yesterday, wearing a sweet dress and subtle edgy makeup.

The 38-year-old actress, who plays Grace on the upcoming film, wore a checkered-printed Honor halter dress (from the Spring 2012 collection), which featured a black leather neckline, and a matching thin black belt. Eva Mendes paired it up with black Jimmy Choo “Lance” strappy sandals and dangling earrings, bracelets and rings from Bulgari.

Although we give Eva props for going sweet for this charity event, the dress didn’t do anything for her body shape. However, her makeup for the event was perfect. Mendes went with a frosty light pink lipstick (that matched her nails), a peachy blush on the apples of her cheeks, highlighting around her eyes, pitch-black eyeliner on her lids and navy blue eyeliner on her waterline, which was unexpected but looked good on Eva. She finished off with her hair swept to one side, then tucked into a low ponytail.
