We’ve always complained about how Dakota Fanning always chooses outfits that make her look washed out, but her Proenza Schouler ensemble she wore at Council of Fashion Designers of American Awards proved to us how much we love her in color. At the 40th AFI Life Achievement Award honoring Shirley MacLaine held at Sony Pictures Studios Thursday night, Dakota was embracing color with both arms. Check out how she made a floor-length gown look fun, young and edgy.
The 18-year-old actress rocked the black carpet in a coral Gucci floor-length silk dress (from the Pre-Fall 2012 collection), which featured a v-neckline and a pleated skirt. Not only is the coral color perfect for Dakota’s pale skin, her black Gucci leather belt with gold studs and a butterfly detail at the center also made the entire outfit suitable for her age.
Dakota Fanning also added a matching gold-studded black Gucci minaudiere, wore a pair of Gucci sandals, and chose several edgy jewelry pieces that included her favorite Cartier “Love” bracelets and Neil Lane Gold and Pearl Ring. She finished off by wearing her blonde tresses down with coral lips and light eye makeup.
The AFI Life Achievement Award tribute to Shirley MacLaine will air on TV Land on Saturday, June 24 at 9PM ET/PST.
