Fantasia Barrino looked glamourous in her evening wear. She had the evergreen favorite huge ear rings on her lobes. Those ear rings are indispensable and Kim Kardashian has at least one pair of them.

Fantasia’s black top had rhinestones down her neckline and it was a bare back. Her slinky pants accentuated her dance moves. Her bright colored hair highliggted her face and this was probably a good thing in the show biz business.

Fantasia’s high energetic performance and attire were well co-ordinated. Her rap number and costume went hand in hand. It was a good appearance from a rap artiste. Fantasia cracked a joke with Ryan Seacrest when she said that she sang that rap song for the first time without prior rehearsals.

Nancy Dell’Olio attended the Glamour Awards in a dress pinned down with flowers. She clearly desired to be the apple of the eye with her deep cut gown. Nancy literally walked along her self provided path of roses.

Nancy was so busy making a statement that good taste became secondary to her choice of attire. Her hair had grown long again after her short cut a few months ago. Her clutch bag was a geometric shape and ultra modern in comparison to her old fashioned trail of flower s. I guess this was an instance where flower power worked to call attention to the wearer.

Sarah Jessica Parker wore a towering hat designed by Philip Treacy. It had a large corsage of several varieties of flora and fauna. It was so attractive and life-like that a couple of butterflies were thrown into the elaborate concoction.

SJP was at the premiere of “Sex and the City: The Movie”, in London. Her green chiffon cocktail dress and hat matched well. Her black and white shoes broke the pattern of green attire.

Sarah received a warm welcome from her fans. A reporter asked why the world premiere was located in London and not in New York, the home of “Sex and the City.” Sarah could only say politely that the cast and production decided to hold the premiere in London.

As times became volatile, jewelry became an investment. In 1987, Calvin Klein bought for his wife, Kelly, a pearl and diamond pendant and necklace made by Cartier. This original was custom made when Queen Mary ordered it. It was first given to her son, who then presented it to his wife, the Duchess of Windsor.

Calvin paid $200,000 for this necklace in 1987. In 2007, the auction house Sotheby sold it for the mind staggering sum of $4 million.

It did not matter that the world faced an economy down turn. Cartier’s clients somehow still had money to buy its pieces.

Cher’s hair style for The Oprah Winfrey Show last week.

Cher has many hair styles and wigs. During her long 40 year career in the spotlight, Cher has worn virtually every color of hair style or wig available in the market. During the most recent appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Cher wore a blonde hair style with rough curls.

Cher, 61, has said that she refused to age gracefully. She said that it was bad to age in the glare of the media and the world.

Cher was married twice. Her first marriage to Sonny Bono ended in a divorce after 11 years. Her second marriage to Gregg Allman lasted 9 days.

Lindsay Lohan had her promotional fashion shoot on Robertson Boulevard in West Hollywood. Her assistant telephoned and told the press photographers to sound them out on this shoot. It was for Lindsay’s new fashion line of leggings.

The promotion was at “Lisa Kline Men.” Too many paparazzi turned up and they had to compete to get good views to take pictures of Lindsay. They even obstructed the boutique’s entrance.

One design of leggings had built in knee pads. These would be useful. Another design was made from shimmery spandex and ideal for adding glamour to an evening function. Lindsay modeled a pair that had zips running down the sides of the calves.

Valentino Garavani.

Valentino, the Italian brand, had a new direction in marketing. It wanted to make Valentino more accessible to the less rich customer. This announcement was made on May 9, 2008.

The original designer, Valentino Garavani, was one of the most celebrated designers for the wealthy and he continued to do so for about 50 years. Valentino’s signature gowns were evening gowns. For day fashions, he used black and white designs.

Valentino’s move into brand extensions follows the trend of the fashion groups. In line with this policy, the company launched a watch collection in April. The company has hopes of opening new stores in US, Europe, India and China.

Kylie Minogue showed a staggering 8 changes of costumes during her opening show in Paris. Her first was a maxi length spider gown. It was made of purple and had a giant spider-like motif on her chest. This dress had an inner flesh colored lining to cover her modesty. Kylie had class.

Keeping the popularity of the teenage fantasy of cheerleaders in mind, Kylie had a cheerleader costume too. It looked as though she overdid it a bit with elbow guards and knee caps.

The scarlet woman was played out in a red costume. The thigh high slit said it all.

Kylie’s showgirl equivalent to Dita von Teese’s glamour was a corset encrusted with gems. Her black pants and long gloves provided warmth for the rest of her body.

The colorful costume paid tribute to the New Age composite of all tastes blended into one. Her top was a colorful short kimono and her black lacy leggings teased playfully.

The black and white costume and serious high boots commanded respect and attention.

If you want a quiet and slinky look, Kylie had her blue gown to soothe you.

If you like something related to the sea, Kylie’s sailor suit will be your favorite costume.

Nicole Kidman, 40, has been replaced by Chanel No. 5. The new face to promote the prefume is Audrey Tautou. Audrey’s best known acting credit was in Amelie. Audrey was nominated for an Oscar for her role in Amelie. She would receive around $8.6 million from Chanel’s contract.

Nicole Kidman had a string of box office failures despite her hefty $20 million per movie pay. Her previous movies that disappointed fans and sponsors were The Golden Compass, Stepford Wives and Bewitched.

Nicole had been with Chanel No. 5 since 2004. Her ad campaign cost $60 million and it was directed by Australian Baz Luhrmann. Perhaps it is time for a change.

Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Victoria Beckham and David Beckham attended the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala on Monday night, May 5, 2008.

Victoria stole the limelight in a see through white Armani dress coat. She changed her hairstyle into a chignon. Her makeup was thick and her lips were an uncharacteristic red. Victoria appeared to have re-invented the old Hollywood glamour look. Perhaps she had Dita von Teese for inspiration but she looked older than 34.

Katie Holmes had also worn Armani. She chose a bright orange dress and blue stilettos. It was an odd combination.

The theme for the museum’s opening was Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy exhibition.
